Tips & Comments on Ear Coning

Ear Coning and Ear Candling are interchangeable phrases. It is advisable, as with any cleansing type treatment, that Ear Coning not be OVERDONE. I always tell my clients that I would do an Ear Coning three to four times in one month for the first time. Then once a year for maintenance, or, twice a year to quarterly for chronic ear or mucus problems.

After a treatment, cotton should be placed gently in the ears to keep cold wind, drafts or other blowing materials out of the ear. After a treatment, the ear is slightly vulnerable, and needs to be protected while a normal amount of ear wax accumulates for protection.

Swimming or going out into the cold unprotected is NOT recommended for at least three days after an ear coning treatment.

Lavender oil on a cotton ball, placed in the ears is very soothing to the ear canal, and can be used after an ear coning.

It is not unusual to find that a significant restoration of the sense of hearing has been experienced after an ear coning.

It is not unusual to see tiny, powderish looking fragments along with the wax debris inside the cone when finished. I have heard that this debris is CANDIDA YEAST which can rest in the ears and cause problems.  I have not verified the validity of this, however, this "yeast" has been seen in the ear canal before an ear coning with an otoscope.

If you are doing this to yourself or children, MAKE SURE YOU ARE BEING STERILE! Alcohol or disinfect scissors that are used to cut open the used candles. Keep the candles somewhere where they are safe from being contaminated. Buying pre-packaged candles is best.

Most ear candling practitioners also like the bees wax the best for the candles. It is non-toxic, and burns the nicest.
