The airdate for the Fox Family Network show "Exploring the Unknown" has been released, and the schedule is for July 14th, 2000. The show is a prime time show, so watch your local TV or cable guide for specific times. It usually airs prime time in the evening around 7PM, but again, check your local listings to be certain. Frankie’s Fees on the Rise this Fall

Now isn’t that an idiosyncrasy? Rising in the fall. I guess it’s better to rise in the fall than fall on the rise! Anyway, I’d like to give you the heads up that I will be significantly raising my fees for services, mostly my iridology consultations, come this fall. HOWEVER, I will be keeping my fees for EXISTING clients the same (with possibly a very small increase). There are many, many reasons for my fee increase, which I will explain in the next newsletter, along with my new published fees. Please let others who you refer to me know that they can expect higher rates by this winter. So, have them come see me before then to get my services at a bargain!

Lose the Fear And Stick With It!

With the flood of natural health supplements on the market, along with sales people and ads promising instant youth, slimness, and energy, my focus as a holistic health practitioner is shifting. Instead of working to help others understand that herbal nutrition does work, (after all, herbs are foods!), my challenge is to help my clients understand that there is no such thing as the magic pill. At the same time, I have to help them to not become discouraged from starting and/or continuing their herbal nutritional program.

Actually, the body is QUITE a miracle and when a program is customized to supply a body the correct dosages, the correct supplements for them, in synergistic combinations, and using the highest quality supplements (NSP), eventually the results WILL be considered miraculous!

The Quick Fix Lie

Humans (it seems Americans especially) are still seeking that quick fix, the special nutrient, medicine, surgery or gene that will instantaneously cure, fix and heal something or everything. It’s understandable that we want a quick fix and the advertising media knows it. But to believe it is to deceive yourself. Instant fixes that are permanent are not in tune with natural law. Again and again in my books and with my clients I try to express that if you want to have the truth revealed to you—observe nature.

Nature has no choice but to follow natural law. * It has its own time and season for everything. The body is made by the forces and with the elements of nature, and will continue to respond positively to things it can utilize and adapt to. Things that are not natural will change the body, but the body doesn’t adapt positively to them.

*(Although mankind can manipulate nature, the tree still grows through natural forces and it continues to require water, air, nutrients and sunshine to flourish.)

For instance, I recently had a woman tell me that she believes that humans are adapting to all the new chemicals, radiation (from electronics and elsewhere), stress, pollution, pesticides, dyes, vaccines, medications and preservatives in our lives today. I responded that "Yes, we sure are adapting. We’re adapting with depression, fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, obesity, coronary bypass surgery, more cancer, children being born with more problems, deformities, autism, kids on Ritalin and antidepressants, and new disease processes and ailments that doctors still don’t have names for yet!" If that’s adapting, I don’t want to adapt.

 Go Ahead, Chose Your Poison, But Make Up for It!

Instead, I think we should use our heads to adapt by protecting ourselves. Although most of my clients wind up giving up lots of "bad" habits I don’t expect any of my clients (nor myself) to go on a pure, whole food diet, move into the woods or to a beach house so they don’t have stress or pollution, get rid of all their electronics, stop drinking, or eating some processed foods, live in a totally toxic free home and wear nothing but 100% natural clothing! However, the point is, that we need to be AWARE that we DO have toxins, pollutants, chemicals and dyes in our lives every day and night. And instead of adapting with disease processes, we can learn to make up for it by feeding our body substances that can protect our physical selves from these daily attacks. We can’t afford to be naive; it’s just a fact that we have to live with many of these things that can harm us in the long run, so why not make up for them nutritionally?

The bottom line is to go ahead and live your life as you feel you need to, but be smart, know that you have to make up for some of the consequences of these things. Below is a list of examples of habits or lifestyle situations and what you can do nutritionally to protect yourself from the consequences.

What you might take to make up for it

If you eat sugary snacks or drink alcohol Be sure to back up your system with B-complex, zinc and chromium supplements, and trace minerals, since sugar particularly leeches these substances from your system. NSP examples: Super Supplemental, NutriCalm
Eat cooked foods (and who doesn’t these days?) Or if you’re a meat eater Take an enzyme or two with your meal to take the load off your pancreas and liver. These organs work harder to make enzymes when you eat cooked foods. NSP examples: Food Enzymes, PDA, Proactazyme.
Live in major air polluted cities where you are breathing poisonous toxins daily, or work in places where you are exposed to enormous amounts of toxins (auto parts stores, garages, garden centers, print shops, dry cleaners, nail salons, etc.) Take your EnviroDetox and Liquid chlorophyll each day to help keep your blood stream clean. Some LIV-A, LIV-J, or Milk Thistle Combo will also support the liver to help you detoxify.
Travel on airplanes and see the world as much as you can Take kelp or Target TSII to protect the thyroid from the radiation that it experiences when traveling.
Drink milk , eat dairy foods daily Know that you’ll need lots of greens, liquid chlorophyll or Alfalfa, and Herbal CA to replace the calcium loss that milk drinking promotes, and possibly magnesium (if you’re getting leg cramps from too much dairy).
Fatty, fried foods Do regular gall bladder flushes, and take Lecithin and Fat Grabbers before these meals.

Nature Is As Nature Is

Once you learn the basics about the nature of nature, everything becomes very simplistic. We live, eat, breathe, grow, deteriorate and die. Our cells constantly are burning out and being replaced by new ones. This is where an ongoing herbal/supplemental nutritional program can add years and quality to your life.

We all inherit the sins of our fathers as the ancient saying goes. I relate this to doing an iridology analysis where we find the inherent weaknesses follow through the generations. If mom didn’t have the best thyroid for instance, she couldn’t very well have helped your body develop the strongest thyroid either. How could you make the best cake in town if you were low on one of the ingredients? As generations continue, we are diluted in a sense. We need to fill back up those nutritional voids and give extra attention and nourishment to our weaknesses so that we do not continue to pass along the same patterns. We can also help ourselves avoid problems with our weak areas, if we know what to do to support them.

Getting to Know You

Iridology will help pinpoint the areas where we need the most help. Herbal and other natural supplemental nutrition will help fill in those weaknesses to make an organ, bone, muscle, etc. stronger.

(And Your Limitations!)

We also have to understand the limitations of our particular body. We can’t expect to be born with an inherent weakness in the knees, for example, and then expect to compete in a sport that takes its toll on the knees, and be the champion--with or without herbs! Herbs can help us be the strongest we can be—but they can only bring us up to our potential. If someone tells you that herbs can make a bionic man or woman out of you, beware! However, if you have a good, strong constitution to start with and you follow a good herbal régime, mix it with some other healthy, good lifestyle habits—you may appear to be a "superman/woman" to others. You may even FEEL super-(wo)manish! But keep in mind that we all have our limits.

For example, if you were colicky as a baby, were not breastfed and/or have always had problems with constipation, you are more than likely always going to need something to support your intestinal system. That’s just the way it works. Once you know this and know what to do for it (LBSII, LB-X, Fat Grabbers, CLT-X, PLSII, Special Formula #1, etc.) then you are empowered with what you need.

Again, the body takes time to completely rebuild and it needs consistent nutrition to rebuild strong, healthy tissue. You never expected to go to one aerobics class and instantly have a toned, slender strong body did you? Or read one book and become smart ? (Well, maybe if it were one of my books, just kidding)! The same goes with herbal nutrition. As the old cells leave your body, the new ones are built on the concentrated nutrients that you are feeding it. Just as you begin seeing your muscles tone over time with regular exercise, permanent cellular and tissue level changes come over time with herbal nutrition. You may not be able to "feel" or "see" your pancreas or liver regenerating, but having faith in the process is necessary to stick with it. You can either feel your results by improved health and well being, or by being the only one in the family who didn’t get adult onset diabetes, or all the other "genetic" problems that run in your family. So, show off and be the smart and healthy one!

Why Can’t I Get All This From Food, You Ask?

You CAN—if you are willing to dedicate your life to obtaining quality, wholesome, fresh, vine ripened, organic, non-hybrid, non-irradiated produce, raw nuts and seeds, and prepare your whole grains slow cooked. This is a good start. Then you need to address your particular nutrition needs. Juicing fresh, organic produce concentrates more nutrients into less bulk. You could juice instead of taking herbs for nutrition. For instance, to fulfill your calcium needs if you are trying to prevent or reverse osteoporosis you could not eat enough broccoli, however, you could juice your broccoli to get enough of the nutrients. Then you still have to eat for bulk too! Sounds like a lot of fun in the kitchen to me—but rarely reasonable in today’s world. I thank God for encapsulated nutrition like NSP herbs!

How Did Our Ancient Ancestors Do It Without Taking All These Herbs!?

Where do you think we obtained the knowledge about herbs? From our ancient ancestors!! Besides, they didn’t have all these chemicals and pollutants to deal with as we do today. They ate from nature, close to nature, and their bodies responded. They exercised as part of life. They breathed clean air, and had occasional spurts of highly stressful situations (i.e. running from a saber tooth tiger!) to motivate them to survive. They didn’t sit in front of the TV hoggin’ down on Haagen-Dazs and potato chips and they certainly weren’t raised on Fruit Loops and Captain Crunch. They weren’t vaccinated as tiny infants and fed Gerber (sugar) baby food. Nor did they have to deal with the consistent psychological stress of dealing and managing in today’s modern world.

Why Do My Herbal Programs Change Over Time?

Herbs can be used in two ways

1. As medicine.

2. As nutrition.

Herbs used medicinally are used short term to help fast forward a cold or flu or help speed healing of a wound, etc. For instance, we take echinacea and golden seal to fast forward clearing up an infection.

Herbs used as nutrition are foods that you take on a regular basis until your body totally rebuilds itself. Most of my clients need therapeutic doses during the first 3-6 months they begin using herbs. It takes the body about 3-5 months to change at a cellular level. Here’s what Dr. Michael Colgan, author of Your Personal Vitamin Profile, New York: Quill, 1982. Pages 18-36, 51-54, 101-120, 223-252 says about this subject:

"…tissue repair and regeneration may not be immediate with therapeutic application of multivitamins and minerals, but it will be reflected in progressive stages of improvement. Patients are encouraged to commit at least six months to a supplement regimen. Even up to two years later the body will be adapting with continual cell turnover. The successive generations of improved cells each need 3-5 months to grow and mature, thus the process of moving toward optimal function is continual and ongoing."

After this time period, the body is on a "higher" level. Positive changes begin to permanently take hold. At this time, the programs usually change in response to the new level of strength/health of the body.

Eventually we can get to a point where we maintain our health with an herbal /nutritional program that continues to give a little extra nourishment to our particular inherent weakness and generally maintain our health. These programs will also evolve depending on lifestyle changes. Diet, exercise and level of stress during periods of time will dictate your program size and dosages, and which particular herbs your body needs. A new eye reading about every year is a way to monitor progress that is happening throughout the body.

Don’t Let A Diagnosis Put You Into A Panic!

Remember that these programs are working on making up for years of not taking a customized herbal nutrition plan. We may have years of deterioration that we are reversing. Problems develop sometimes years before any diagnosis is made or is apparent. (Another beauty of being able to use iridology to find where your problems may occur)! For example, osteoporosis, takes 2 to 3 decades to become apparent! We can slow and even reverse that process starting today, but it is the consistency that will get your lasting protection and results. So, even if you’ve been on herbs for a year or two, and get a diagnosis of osteoporosis or other degenerative disease, know that you are still on the right track with me--or someone who does this work--working with you. Unless you started your herbal nutrition twenty to thirty years ago, you’ve just been notified of what you’ve been working toward for years. Our past catches up to us eventually. Herbs take their time, that’s why we need therapeutic doses to fill in those "holes"! That’s why I am proud of so many of you for working with your children’s herbal nutrition to protect their future health!

But It’s Expensive!

I have a story to answer that nonsense. My husband parked at a meter in Los Angeles last week on a Sunday while we went to a restaurant. He didn’t bother to put a quarter in the meter because as he said, he "figured Sundays were free". I didn’t question it, as I allow adults to take responsibility for their own actions. Because of this, we came back to a $28.00 parking fine! I liken this analogy to the use of nutritional herbs. Maybe you want to be in denial that your body needs a little extra attention or nutrition, or you figure that it will be okay because you are generally healthy, or no one in your family took herbs and they’re pretty healthy and so on. Maybe a little bit of effort or expense seems like a hassle or an inconvenience. Believe me, the consequences are more expensive than prevention. Pay your daily meter!

Think of this expense. Each year, Americans spend in excess of one BILLION dollars on coronary bypass surgery. Heart disease is 80-90% brought on with lifestyle (poor eating habits, lack of exercise and lack of proper nutrition). That means that coronary bypass surgery could just about be totally eliminated/avoided by the proper use of herbal nutrition. .

Fear Vs. Love Tested

Most of my clients have an epiphany about three or four months into their programs and it goes something like this:

"Wow! This is amazing. I am feeling like a totally new person. My ailment(s) are subsiding, I have more energy, etc. I think there must be something to these herbs."

OR

"My life was easier without taking all these pills. I gag on these pills, it’s too expensive, and why do I need to "rebuild my pancreas and liver" anyway? And besides, I’m (fat, have high blood pressure, diabetes, fill in the blank) because researchers have PROVEN it’s genetic, so I’m just going to give this up and hope someday they’ll come up with that magic pill they keep researching."

 

The second group ends up usually in three different scenarios:

1. I never hear from them again.

2. I hear from them about six months later and they tell me that they’ve just discovered this "new" nutrient/therapy/medicine/nutraceutical/therapist etc. who promises miracles, or who are "curing others of disease". (And they eventually burn out on this as well, since they are once again, chasing the magic pill.)

3. They contact me six months to two years later and say: "You told me I needed to rebuild my pancreas and now it makes sense, I was just diagnosed with diabetes, so can you help me?

Yes, I will help them, but what a shame that they couldn’t see the truth and trust that I was here to help them before. Now, they are going to have to spend even more money on their herbs and will have to be even stricter with their diet.

But my joy comes from the first group as they continue to enjoy improvement in their health, life and happiness. I watch them become empowered. They have taken on the responsibility for their own (and usually their family’s) wellness. I see these folks less and less professionally, and eventually they come to me just twice each year to make sure they are on the right track. They’ve learned which herbs to use for medicinal purposes (although most clients never seem to get the flu or colds after being on herbs for a year or two). They are happy and grateful, because they know that they don’t have to suffer or wait for science to come up with a miracle cure for them! And I am happy because I had the opportunity to share my knowledge with others to get them to where they wanted to be.

In closing, please remember, you already have the miracle. You’re living in it. Preserve it, stick with your programs, lose your fear, keep learning, growing and healing and I’ll be with you along the way to make sure you get there!

NSP Unauthorized Key

The combinations of herbs listed under "Best Combinations" in the book "The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Herbal Remedies" by Frankie Avalon Wolfe, Ph.D. are NSP combinations. The semi-colons separate single herbs and commas separate the herbs contained in a NSP combo. This makes it so that a whole program is listed, instead of just one combination. For example: Page 217, under Lupus: Best Combinations include liquid chlorophyll; suma, astragalus, Siberian ginseng, ginkgo biloba, gotu kola (which is NSP’s SUMA Combo); Oregon grape; and then some others.
