WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?

by Frankie Avalon Wolfe, M.H.H., Ph.D.

Reflexology is a science that maps out the reflexes on the feet and hands to all the organs and the rest of the body. By applying acupressure and massage like techniques to the feet and hands, all other body parts are positively affected.

Historically, Reflexology was successfully used in New England as an alternative to medicine. This ancient Oriental art was rediscovered by Dr. William Fitzgerald in 1913 who ran a hospital using Reflexology instead of pain pills, muscle relaxants or sleeping pills. However, as time went on, people took less responsibility for their own health and were looking for a "Magic Pill" to help them. Eventually Reflexology fell by the way side. Now, as the public takes responsibility for their health, Reflexology has again become more popular and widely used.

Foot and hand Reflexology can and has conquered many health problems naturally while also serving as a form of preventative maintenance.

Reflexology is a safe, easy and beneficial method of treatment. Studies have shown that Reflexology can reduce stress and related problems such as PMS. Reflexology positively affects the central nervous system which helps to relieve a majority of PMS symptoms.

Increases circulation

Integrates body, mind and spirit

Sends new vitality pulsating through the body

Lets you detect health problems before they are serious

Helps reduce mental, physical and emotional TENSION

Relieves sinus congestion almost instantaneously

Can help relieve pain and send healing energy to rest of body

Helps the body to "de-toxify" and cleanse

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

You will lie on your back on a massage table, face up, with your shoes and socks removed. Shorts or sweat pants are recommended. You will be made comfortable with a blanket and soft music. Healing oils may be applied before or after session. Aromatherapy may be diffused in the room to aid relaxation and increase your senses. Most of the treatment is focused on the feet, the last ten minutes is concentrated on the hands.

How long does it take?

Regular treatments last approximately one hour.

What will I feel?

Pain is not gain in Reflexology, however, tender spots will indicate areas that need extra attention. Pressure, as in regular massage, should be "strong but not uncomfortable". (Many of Frankie's clients fall asleep during treatments!)

How many treatments do I need?

For maintenance of health, treatments are recommended once or twice per month (more if desired). For more serious health problems, treatments can be done much more frequently. Frankie can also teach you some self -help techniques that you can use anytime.

What can I expect after my session?

When you are through you should be relaxed and invigorated! You are then sent on your way with the expectation that you will have some internal cleansing take place. It is recommended that you drink plenty of water for the rest of the day. You can also take a hot bath when you get home. Adding a capful of hydrogen peroxide to your bath will assist in pulling the toxins out of your body.
